Murray, working out of the cellar of the family home in Laxdale. Over the following two years, business had grown sufficiently to warrant the building of a workshop on the newly created Parkend Industrial Estate, where it is still based.&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Early work consisted of the building of livestock trailers, boat trailers, gates, railings and cattle grids, expanding over time to include all kinds of metalwork from the decorative to industrial works such as roof beams, fire escape stairs and security fences. Ivor\u2019s lifelong interest in local heritage led to involvement in building the waterwheel and various railings for Lews Castle Grounds, work in the refurbished Lews Castle, and the repair of historic railings and gates in conjunction with Laing\u2019s Foundry in Edinburgh.<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Our work can be found throughout the Western Isles and beyond. Projects we have contributed to over the last four decades include schools, water treatment plants, ferry terminals, piers and harbours, as well as more domestic work.
